Cells

This series of embroidery was initiated through stories of loved ones facing various illnesses. In my research on these pathologies, I discovered visuals of histological sections—very thin slices of tissue intended to be observed through transparency under a microscope—whose artificial colors and density reminded me of certain images from space observations. The infinitely large and the extremely small, the distant and the internal somewhat resemble each other: embroidering these images seems to reconcile the abstract and the living, beauty and suffering, thus giving a new resonance to these illnesses.
